COLUMBUS GROVE — The St. Anthony Parish second graders celebrated their First Holy Communion on Sunday, April 27. In preparation for their special day, a retreat was planned for them on Wednesday, April 23 at St Anthony Church. The day began with Holy Mass and continued downstairs in the basement with banner making, grape washing, bread making, and bread and wine tasting. The students also learned about Blessed Imelda, the Patroness of First Communicants. Special thanks goes out to Richard Kamphaus who showed the children how to make rosaries and to all the parent volunteers. The children posed with the banner they made during the retreat.
