PUTNAM SENTINEL — The extra space available in the Putnam County Jail
continues to be used by other area agencies. The amount of revenue
generated by the jail by housing Hancock County inmates has increased
each month of this calendar year, and continues to outpace 2017 as well.
When
reached for comment, Putnam County Sheriff Brian Siefker says, “We’re
just trying to help out a county that is overcrowded. And, we’re
generating revenue for our county as well by using our extra capacity.”
According to Siefker, the county is exploring offering additional
services, such as extending the video arraignment system which is
already operating here in Putnam County to the Hancock County courts.
