COUNTY — Over the past year we have watched some dear friends and
family members triumph over cancer, and others lose their battle with
this horrible disease. These loved ones have inspired us as a community
to continue our fight against cancer through participation in the
American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.
Relay For Life is a
family-oriented event where participants can walk or run on a track,
relay style, for 18 hours. Participants camp near the track, and when
they are not taking their turn, take part in other fun activities.
Former and current cancer patients, their families, the public and
people who want to remember loved ones, are all invited to take part in
this exciting team relay event. Teams include individuals representing
corporations, clubs, organizations and families.
The 2014 American
Cancer Society Relay For Life of Putnam County will be held June 6 and 7
at Ottawa-Glandorf Senior High School in Ottawa. Local businesses,
industries, friends and neighbors are encouraged to help raise funds and
public awareness in the fight against cancer.
Although everyone has fun at Relay, participants are all there working together to:
• Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, those who walk
alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
• Fight back because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.
