OTTAWA - Ottawa-Glandorf's girls basketball team grabbed a quick lead Thursday evening as the Titans blew by Defiance 68-26 in Western Buckeye League action.
The seventh ranked Titans move to 4-1 in the WBL and are 12-2 overall. The Bulldogs are 0-4 in the league and 2-10 overall.
Ottawa-Glandorf didn't wait long to grab the lead scoring the first four points of the game. After the Bulldogs scored a basket, the Titans went on a 14-1 run to take an 18-3 lead. O-G was up 20-6 after the opening quarter, then outscored the Bulldogs 21-12 in the second quarter for a 41-18 halftime lead.
O-G's defense turned in another solid effort as they forced 29 Defiance turnovers in the game and held the Bulldogs to a 9-of-30 night shooting the ball. O-G had 13 turnovers in the game and were 28-of-58 shooting the ball.
Kristen Miller had 13 points to lead the Titans, while Michelle Maag, Dani Ellerbrock, Elissa Ellerbrock and Erin Basinger all had eight points. Anna Bellman had eight rebounds, five assists and four steals for O-G Stephanie Hempfling also had four steals in the game and Maag had three.
Gabi Lamb and Laura Schrag both had eight points for the Bulldogs.
Ottawa-Glandorf won the junior varsity game 63-52.
The Titans are back in action Saturday as they travel to Fostoria for a varsity only game starting at noon.
