OTTAWA — From a field of five candidates, Dave Michel was selected on Monday evening by members of Ottawa Village Council to fill the seat vacated this month by former Council Member Jeff Ducey.

Following presentations made to council by Michel and fellow candidates Gene Ruhe, Mark Schmiedebusch, Joe Laudick and Bill Krouse, council entered into executive session to discuss the personnel appointment. Following less than 20 minutes of discussion, council returned to regular session. Council member Gene Hovest made the motion to appoint Michel to the open position. Council President Tim Macke seconded and council approved

"I would like to thank everyone for their applications," said Mayor Dean Meyer. "It was a tough decision."
