CLOVERDALE — The court room was filled with family and a victim impact panel Tuesday morning when a Cloverdale man was sentenced in Putnam County Municipal Court after pleading no contest and being found guilty of two third degree charges of sexual imposition.

Charles Recker, 50, was arraigned on Feb. 2 for sexual touching with two minor boys. He initially pled not-guilty but changed his plea to no contest.

Assistant Prosecutor Todd Schroeder said Recker has acknowledged his engagement in other illegal sexual activities involving minors in the past.

Schroeder said in recent years he acknowledged that he repeatedly raped a family member who was a minor at the time. This was never reported to authorities and he was never charged for this offense.

He also, in letters, admitted that while employed as a janitor at Continental Schools he was engaged in several importunity sexual activities where he solicited female students to do sexual activities with him. No charges were filed in this activity and it was only recently that Recker admitted to this in letters. Records indicate Recker resigned as custodian at Continental 25 years ago.

Recker’s sentence, given by Municipal Court Judge Chad Niese, was modified to include 45 days in jail and a $500 fine. He must serve five years of probation and register as a Tier 1 Sex Offender. He must be registered for 15 years. Recker was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and not to be within 250 feet of the victim. He also must complete a sex offender program.
